The joint venture between auto companies Volvo and Either Motors will start producing their entire range of semi low-floor buses in the second half of 2010. Sidhhartha Lal, Managing Director and CEO of Eicher, said that the company would produce at least 100 buses a month after production was started.

Speaking on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum’s India Economic Summit, Lal also said that the JV was in talks with several state governments and agencies that might need buses.

Significant among these is the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) which is a Central Government initiative to expedite development in specific urban centres. Lal said that the company’s semi low-floor buses would be perfectly suited to the requirements of JNNURM.
