Volkswagen has revealed its India plans for next few months and the year 2010 as well. The company already sells Passat and Jetta models in India in the premium sedan segment. Now the company is ready to bring its first SUV VW Touareg in India. It will also be launching its international best seller small car models VW Polo hatchback model which will be available by early 2010. The car is currently undergoing changes to suit the taste and demands of Indian car buyers.
VW Touareg will be officially launched in India by first week of December. The car, which is built on Porsche Cayenne platform, will be imported as completely-built unit and will carry a price tag of Rs. 30 lakhs and above. The car is not yet registered as officially importable and will have waiting period of at least 3-4 month after it is booked. It will compete with models like Volvo XC90, Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q7 and BMW X5.
Touareg is one of the most popular high end sports utility vehicles that carry 5-star ratings from IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) in terms of safety features.
