HSCI recalls 8,532 units of Honda City in India

Japanese auto company Honda has ordered a recall of 8,532 units of its popular sedan, the Honda City, in India, due to a fault in the car’s power window switch. The defect has affected cars manufactured in 2007, and may cause problems in the window switch during heavy rains or if the car is accidentally exposed to other liquids. The move is a part of a global recall by Honda, which also includes the first generation Honda Jazz. In India, however, the company sells the second generation Jazz, which has not been affected by the recall. Also, the third-generation City, launched in November 2008, is unaffected by the move.

Honda has decided to replace the power window switch in the recalled cars, free of cost. Internationally, the company has recalled a total of 6.46 lakh units of the City and the Jazz. A company spokesperson said that the new switches would be imported from Thailand. Customers whose cars are to be recalled will be directly contacted by Honda.
