Frankfurt Auto Show is the world’s largest auto show held once every two years. It is organized by Association of German Automotive Industry which organizes auto shows every year. Odd numbered years showcase passenger cars in Frankfurt and even number years showcase commercial vehicles in Hannover. This year 2009 was a time to showcase the best and upcoming passenger cars from nearly every auto maker around the world.
The theme for this year’s Frankfurt Auto Show was largely eco-friendly cars and alternative fuel cars. Electric cars were also welcomed by the audience and VW E-Up, Audi R8 E-Tron, Hyundai i10, Volvo C30 were some of the popular electric cars at the show. Porsche also unveiled its electric car concept but stated that the company is still 5-10 years away till it develops a technology that represents company’s strong performance capabilities of being a sports car.
Hybrid cars were also quite popular with models like BMW Vision, BMW 7 series, BMW X6 Hybrid, Jaguar XJ Hybrid, Toyota Prius Plug-in that were showcased. Cars running on fossil fuel were also show-stealers and not lagging behind were Bentley Continental GT, Bentley Mulsanne, Volvo C30, Rolls Royce Ghost, Porsche Turbo 911 Sports Classic, Porsche GT3 Cup car, Porsche GT3 RS 450hp, Mercedes SLS AMG Supercar.
