A survey conducted in the United States of America by an automotive research firm - AutoPacific, says that 15 per cent of new car buyers in the country would look at buying a car from China, while 11 per cent would buy a car from India. The 'Opportunity for Chinese and Indian brands in the USA' survey, which interviewed 30,000 consumers across America, shows that Chinese and Indian car manufacturers are likely to give tough competition to car makers from other Asian economies like Korea and Japan, which are already well-established in the US.
Car buyers in the country are slowly gravitating towards the rapidly emerging economies of India and China, and seem to be trusting their products more than ever before. As per the survey, every fourth American is now ready to buy a car from either India or China. George Peterson, President of AutoPacific, said that the group willing to consider Indian and Chinese cars comprises 'highly desirable buyers' who would be coveted by any manufacturer.
These consumers are likely to currently own cars from Japanese or Korean companies like Hyundai and Kia, indicating that the competition for these Asian car makers will not come from American automakers like Ford or GM but from China and India.
